Bigfoot Awareness Week

del.icio.us
Stumble It!
This week, a parade of racists and bigots will be descending on college campuses across the country to warn you about the fictional threat of "Islamic Fascism."

We at toasterhead's blogosphere feel that this week's events downplay the threat from other non-existent entities threatening our great nation, and we can no longer let these threats go unrecognized. I urge you to support Bigfoot Awareness Week. For the children.

We at Bigfoot Awareness Week are not Islamo-fascists or Islamo-Stalinists, nor are we tooth faeries or unicorns or Loch Ness Monsters or any other mythical creatures. We're just realists with a nuanced understanding of the nature of international relations and conflict who want to emphasize the fact that people who use the term "Islamo-fascists" are complete morons.

Islamofascism was coined by a life-long koranic scholar, Khalid Duran. I suspect he knows what he's talking about, having been steeped in the faith his entire life.

'Coined by Khalid Duran, a Muslim scholar seeking to explain Islam to Jews, the word was meant as a criticism of hyper-traditionalist clerics - who in turn denounced Duran as a traitor to the faith.'

Eh. I realize this is above your intelligence range. Good night!

SO TRUE!!! SO TRUE!!! SO TRUE!!!

Actually, the roots of the term date back to the 1930s, when Nazism was compared with "Mohammedanism," and the first published use of the word was by Malise Ruthven in 1990. But that's beside the point.

Duran's use of the term is somewhat appropriate, as he seemed to be referring specifically to Maghrebian political movements at the time that sought to impose religious orthodoxy on the population.

Its use by American conservatives to describe groups such as al-Qa'ida, Hamas, Hezbollah, the Muslim Brotherhood, and People with Brown Skin and Arabic Names, on the other hand, is completely moronic.

You're not very informative. Where do we fight them so we don't have to fight them here?

Isn't the political definition of fascism, "state corporatism"? What country in the Middle East could possibly fall into this catagory? I think the folks who are yelling about how we all should be afraid of "Islamo-fascism" are either idiots & don't have a clue what they are talking about, or they are intentionally misinforming the public for a war agenda, by throwing around terminology that may have a nice ring, but is at closer look completely nonsensical.

NO!!! Fascism comes from the Latin word fasces which literally means a bundle of sticks with an ax in the middle. This was the symbol of the highest magistrate in ancient Rome! Today fascism is merely the rule of a all powerfull central authority following an ideology in which the individual exists to serve the purpose of the authority!!!

Fascism has nothing to do with corporations!!!!!! DOn't be such a dhimmtard!!!!!

So this could describe any "true believer" in any major religion of the world. Why have you freaks singled out Muslims only for your hate-campaign?
